ARRECIFE TOURISM AWARD 2022: 'AIDA CRUCEROS'
Updated: Oct 2, 2022
Lanzarote capital will award 'Cruceros AIDA' with the Arrecife 2022 Tourism Prize.
"AIDA Cruceros is undoubtedly one of the most important companies for the tourism sector in Arrecife and it is an honour for the Town Council to award them the Arrecife 2022 Tourism Award," said Mayor Astrid Pérez.

The award ceremony, which will be received by a representative of the company, will take place this Friday, 30 September, during the break in the ordinary plenary session.
The Arrecife Town Council, chaired by Astrid Pérez, through the Department of Tourism, headed by Armando Santana, will award AIDA Cruises with the Arrecife 2022 Tourism Prize for its collaboration, career and commitment to the capital city of Arrecife.
The award coincides with World Tourism Day, which is celebrated every year on 27 September. The Councillor for Tourism, Armando Santana, also underlines the importance of AIDA Cruises for the capital's sector, as this company "has contributed a lot to the economic recovery after the Coronavirus pandemic".
AIDA Cruises are part of the Carnival Corporation, the largest travel company in the world, and have been docking in the port of Arrecife since 2007. In a normal year, the shipping company makes an average of 75 calls per year on the island with its various ships, with around 100,000 cruise passengers in 365 days.
The company assures that it chooses Lanzarote mainly because of the climate, as it is summer there practically all year round, as well as the great variety of excursions and sights on the entire island.
In 2022, a total of 76 stopovers are planned in Lanzarote with an estimated 125,000 cruise passengers, a figure higher than in 2021 when 45 stopovers were made.
In addition, AIDA Cruises points out that another factor to consider for calling at the port of Arrecife is the high demand from cruise passengers, even pointing out that the port of Arrecife is practically at the same demand level as other destinations such as the Mediterranean routes or the routes in Northern Europe.
